Why we're different
We make tools for big dogs, and for the people who care for them.
Most nail tools are sold for every dog on earth, and used on the floor with a hard squeeze. Our grinder is made for big dog nails, and for doing it from your chair. Here is what that changes for you, and who we tell not to buy it.

You have been here before.
- The clippers are in a drawer. Your hand does not want that hard squeeze anymore.
- Getting down on the floor with him is harder than it used to be.
- His nails are black and you cannot see where to stop.
- Every guide says have someone hold him. There is nobody.
- The groomer is booked for weeks, and he hates the car ride.
- You hear his nails click on the floor, and it eats at you.
- Somewhere in there, you started to think the problem was you.
It was not you. And it was not your dog.
You did not get worse at this. The old way got harder.
Every guide says the same three things. Squeeze the clippers. Get down on the floor. Find someone to hold him. That way was made for a strong grip, a young back and a second pair of hands.
So you put it off. His nails get long. You hear them click on the kitchen floor, and you feel like you are letting him down. You start to think you are just bad at this now, or that he is the problem. None of that is true.
Nobody who wrote "have someone hold him" has ever done a Mastiff's back paw alone. So we made a grinder for big dogs, and a way to use it that fits you now. You sit in your chair. His paw rests on a cushion. You hold the grinder light, like a pen.
No floor. No squeeze. No one to call.
Four things. That is the whole list.
We tell you about the big dog setting
These come with three little holes for three sizes of dog. On a thick nail the cover comes all the way off and the whole head lands on the nail. Nobody prints that on a box. It is the biggest change you can make.
We picked a head that keeps cutting
Most grinders use paper sandpaper. It wears smooth, and then it rubs more than it cuts. So you press harder and get less done. Ours has a solid head with no paper to wear thin. You hold it light and let it do the work.
We put a spare in the box
One head will not last forever on a big dog. A second one in the box means you never stop halfway through a back paw and feel let down again. When the first one wears, the next one is already there.
We wrote the chair method down
A digital guide, five pages, made for doing this by yourself. Where your chair goes. How to rest his paw on a cushion. Which speed for which nail. How to move toe to toe so nothing gets hot. It lands in your inbox before the grinder ships.
The difference is not the machine. It is how we act.
| The usual way | What we do | |
| Who it is for | "Great for all pets, from tiny kittens to big dogs." | Built for 60 to 140 lb. Smaller dogs, 25 lb and up? It should still get the job done. It just was not made for them. We say who it is wrong for. |
| Refunds | "Contact us and we will help with a refund." | Try it for 60 days. One email before day 60 gets a full refund. |
| What it costs | A groomer trim every few weeks, plus the car ride. | One tool you keep. It costs about as much as two groomer trims. |
| The instructions | Tell you to get on the floor and have someone hold the dog. | Written for one person in a comfy chair. No floor, and no helper needed. |
| Who is behind it | No name, no face, just a store page. | Email hello@dewclawco.com and a real person writes back, seven days a week. |
And here is who it is wrong for.
Most brands will never tell you this part. We would rather you knew now than feel let down again in a month.
- Dogs under 25 lb.Buy something smaller and lighter. It will work better on a little nail than this will.
- Cats, rabbits and small pets.Wrong tool. Not a judgement, just wrong.
- A dog who has to be sedated to have his feet touched. That is a handling problem, not a tool problem, and no grinder fixes it. Talk to your vet.
- Anyone who would rather someone else did it.Handing him to a groomer is a fine choice. This is for people who want to keep doing it themselves.

Why we are called Dewclaw.
It is the one nail nothing wears down.
It sits high on the leg and never touches the ground. Walks do not file it. The yard does not file it. Left alone long enough it curls back toward the pad.
It is also the one most people forget, and the one groomers skip when they are rushed. If you know what a dewclaw is and you check it, you already care more than most. You are not ready to hand that job over. You do not have to.
That is the standard we named the company after.
If that sounds like you and your dog, this is your tool.
Try it from your own chair for 60 days. Not happy? One email gets you a full refund.
